Nurture Group – The Orchard
Our Nurture Group takes place in The Orchard. The Orchard was purposefully set up for nurture in March 2022. Our Nurture Group is a targeted intervention to support children with their emotional and social development as well as academic progress.
The Nurture Group rooms are carefully arranged to have the best of both classroom and a home environment. They are designed to be warm and welcoming in order to provide a consistent, predictable and safe place for children. Provision is high quality and links to curriculum activities. Just as any classroom there are areas for sharing stories, circle times and for completing tasks. There is an additional area for ‘toast time’ where children are able to sit as a group to share a meal. Within the Orchard there is also a quiet area for children to use for thinking time or for finding their own space.
The group is run by staff who are qualified in ‘The Theory and Practice of Nurture Groups’. They lead the provision for 6 to12 children at a time, who will spend the majority of their week in the Nurture Group. The children will spend several afternoons with their existing class and we work towards reintegrating them back into class within 2 to 4 terms.
